We have learned with sorrow that 55 people were killed and at least 85 people were injured according to initial reports as a result of the suicide attack perpetrated at a volleyball match held on 23 November in Yahya Khel district of Paktika Province, Afghanistan.

We wish God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the attack, convey our condolences to their families and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.

We condemn this attack targeting peace and stability of Afghanistan. We believe that such heinous attacks will not be able to affect the preference of the people of Afghanistan towards democracy, and we reaffirm that Turkey will continue to support the Afghan institutions’ efforts exerted in this direction.
