Press Release Regarding the 23rd Anniversary of Solingen Attack

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 29.05.2016

No: 120, 29 May 2016

We commemorate with respect our five citizens who were murdered by the arson attack of a xenophobic/racist group in Solingen city of Germany, on 29 May 1993, on the 23rd anniversary of this tragic attack. We wish God’s mercy upon them.

On this occasion, we would like to reiterate once again our concern over the racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia which has recently reached a serious level particulary in Europe.

We hope that these kinds of tragedies will not happen again.

In this regard, we invite all the prominent personalities with a special social responsibility on their shoulders, primarily the politicians to engage in uniting rhetoric and acts instead of divisive remarks and actions which cause further unrest among societies.
