The assassination of our Turkmen brother Ali Elmas, a member of the University of Kirkuk, yesterday (February 6th) has been learned with great sorrow.

We wish Allah’s mercy upon him, offer our condolences to his relatives and our Iraqi Turkmen Brothers.

The increasing number of attacks targeting our Turkmen brothers in Kirkuk recently is of great concern for us and we strongly condemn these heinous assaults. We expect that the perpetrators and instigators of these attacks be brought to justice immediately.

We renew our call upon the Iraqi authorities to take the necessary measures without delay to ensure that all components of Kirkuk live in safety and peace.
