We are deeply concerned about the violence and the news reporting excessive use of force against peaceful protestors during the demonstrations, which resumed in Baghdad and southern provinces of Iraq.

We are extremely saddened by the high number of deaths and injuries during the events.

We hope that favorable conditions will be swiftly established to meet the legitimate demands of the Iraqi people, as well as to implement reforms that would ensure peace and stability in the country.

We wish Allah’s mercy upon our Iraqi brothers and sisters who lost their lives, and speedy recovery to the injured ones.
